What we install

Electrical project work on operating industrial sites, from a single machine through to staged work across a production area.

Machinery and equipment installation

Electrical installation, connection and commissioning of new production machinery and process equipment, including supplies, isolation and control connections.

Production line modifications

Changes to existing lines, equipment relocations, additions to running plant and the electrical alterations that go with them.

Power distribution

Sub-mains, distribution, supplies to new equipment and additional capacity for expanding plant.

Switchboards and MCCs

Fitting off, installing, connecting and modifying switchboards and motor control centres, additional circuits and upgrades to existing boards.

Motors and drives

Motor and drive installation, connection, configuration and commissioning, including starters, overloads and motor control circuits.

Controls and field wiring

Control circuit modifications, field devices, sensors, actuators and field wiring installation and alteration.

Cabling and containment

Cable routes, tray, ladder, conduit and containment, installed for the environment the plant actually runs in.

Why it matters who installs it

Installed by people who maintain plant

Industrial installations are easier to maintain when they are built with the next fault, inspection or modification in mind. Sparktech's extensive fault-finding and maintenance experience gives us a practical view of what makes an installation straightforward, or painful, to work on later.

Working within the project design and your site requirements, that experience shows up in the practical detail:

  • Labelling and identification that still makes sense to someone in two years
  • Terminations, glanding and containment suited to the environment the plant runs in
  • Cable routes that can be traced and equipment that can be accessed for testing
  • Clear labelling, test documentation and marked-up information where it forms part of the project handover
  • Practical input raised during the project on access, maintainability and installation detail

Where we can see something that would cause problems for whoever maintains the plant later, we raise it with you or your engineer as part of the project rather than changing an engineered design on our own initiative.

How the scope works

Design, switchboards and scale

Electrical specification

For normal electrical installation work we can size and specify what the scope requires: circuits, protection, cabling, isolators, supplies and the associated installation requirements. We can also give practical input on installation, access and maintainability as the work is planned.

Where a specialist design is required

Formal engineering design, process design, machine safety design and switchboard engineering are supplied by you or your engineer, or coordinated with an appropriate specialist as part of the project. We work to that design rather than producing it.

Switchboards and MCCs

We fit off, install, connect and modify supplied switchboards and motor control centres. Where a project needs a new manufactured board, we can coordinate that through a specialist board builder as part of the overall project rather than leaving you to arrange it separately. The board itself is manufactured by the board builder.

Project size

Projects range from a single machinery installation or modification through to production line work, switchboard and distribution work, controls and larger staged electrical projects. Where a project needs more labour than we carry day to day, we scale using trusted electricians and subcontractors.

Where our scope ends

Sparktech is an industrial electrical contractor rather than a multidisciplinary EPC contractor. Where a project requires complete greenfield facility delivery or broader multidisciplinary engineering capability outside our scope, we will identify that early rather than take on work we are not structured to deliver.

On safety circuits we fault find, repair, and install to a design supplied by you or your engineer. We do not design machine safety systems, perform safety validation, or issue safety system certification. We sign off our own electrical wiring.

Controls and automation

Where automation is part of the project

Sparktech provides the electrical and controls work directly, including control panel modifications, field wiring, sensors and actuators, drives and the commissioning of electrical and control components.

Where specialist PLC or HMI programming is required, we can engage trusted automation partners and coordinate that work as part of the overall project. Depending on how the project is structured, Sparktech can carry the overall scope so you are not running an electrical contractor and a programmer in parallel.

On site

Working around production

Most industrial projects happen on a site that still has to make product. How the work is staged usually matters as much as how it is installed.

  • Work staged around production requirements, including planned return-to-service points where the project requires them
  • Using planned downtime and shutdown windows where that is the more efficient approach
  • Isolation and permit requirements worked out ahead of the work rather than on the day
  • Coordination with your maintenance team, production and other trades on site
  • Site inductions, permit to work systems and your electrical safety procedures
  • Progress and problems raised as they come up rather than at handover

On commissioning and handover we complete the testing the work requires, and issue certificates of testing and compliance, test result sheets and job reports with photos.
